IMPLANT-RETAINED DENTURES
Implant-retained dentures are a great option for many patients. Also called an overdenture, this is a full set of prosthetic teeth that is attached to at least two dental implant posts that have been surgically placed in the gum line.
There are two types of implant-retained dentures:
- Bar-retained dentures: Supported by two to five dental implant posts, a bar follows the curve of the jaw and allows the full denture to easily clip on.
- Ball-retained dentures: Dental implant posts are topped with ball attachments, onto which the full denture can snap firmly in place.
ALL-ON-4 DENTAL IMPLANTS
Some patients are better suited for All-on-4 dental implants, also known as Teeth In a Day. Four to 6 dental implants are used for this method. The posts are longer than traditional dental implants, allowing them to draw maximum strength from the jaw bone. Two dental implants are typically placed along the side of the jaw with two more at the front.
This option is often recommended for patients who have less jaw bone density due to gum disease or extended tooth loss. With All-on-4, patients can leave our office with a fully-functioning fixed denture on the very same day.
